According to the tradition

Of the elders,

But eat bread

With unwashen hands?'

He answered

And said unto them,

'Well hath Esaias

Prophesied of you

Hypocrites,

As it is written,

'This people

Honoureth me

With their lips,

But their heart

Is far from me.

Howbeit

In vain

Do they worship me,

Teaching for doctrines

The commandments of men.' ' "Mark 7:5-7

In Bible times

Men taught,

That pleasing God

To gain the blessing

That they sought,

Was extremely difficult,

And very hard.

But what about today?

Are happiness,

And peace of mind?

Or patience,

Or the fruit of being kind,

Easy?

Even though

We plead with God

To grant these very things?

Or have you ever sighed,

And wondered why

Your search

For spiritual rest,

Seems so laborious?

If talking the talk,

Is a walk in the park,

But walking the walk,

Can wear you out,

Then perhaps it is time

To redefine

What Jesus meant,

When He said,

"Come unto me,

All ye that labour
